Okay…time. I’ve been rocking the same $20 watch for, I don’t know, a thousand years? More? I honestly don’t remember. And by “same” I mean the same general design…I’ve been through, I don’t know, ten of these things over the years? At least? They made them super big for a few years, but it’s always the same really. Time, date, stopwatch, alarm.
I usually break the wrist bands. I try and tape them for a while, but then eventually the band is such a mess of medical tape and gorilla tape and it’s still falling apart and it get’s all sticky and I just can’t deal… Continue reading
Two weeks ago (it feels like two months) our train rolled into Boston, more or less concluding our crazy and amazing bicycle adventure. And the third video update can now be found on YouTube: https://youtu.be/JCO2vmhckXY
Now the real fun begins…500GB of photos and videos shot on three cameras over four weeks. I honestly don’t expect this to become anything truly amazing, I’m not planning to enter it in film festivals around the world and gain fame and fortune…but I’m really excited about it all the same! I’m excited to go through the motions of putting a film together, making it the best little film I can, and sharing it with you all 🙂
Stay tuned for more info, and expect it some time around the beginning of April.
That’s all for now…catching up on sleep and enjoying settling into a place for a little while. It’s been a long while!
Honestly, after the first week or so (and then a few days off in Silver City) things felt pretty chill…the cycle life settled back into it’s routine, bike as long as it’s fun…find a place to camp (usually more or less on the side of the road)…eat some food, we lived our lives pretty close to the sun and continued our pattern of sleeping a lot, usually about 10 or 11 hours, it just gets so cold and dark that there’s not much else to do.

After some issues with the comments and subscription parts of this blog I’ve decided to toss in some YouTube videos and see what happens. I’m not really set up to do this on the road, but I’m giving it a shot anyway, and would love your thoughts!
Check out the video, like or subscribe if you want to see more, and if you have a questions about the trip leave it in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer everything in the next video.
And lastly…I’m still planning to keep blogging here as well, so keep your eyes out for the next post 🙂
After my first day of cycle touring ever, I got to say it hasn’t been as hard as I expected. It’s actually pretty awesome 🙂 Granted it was mostly flat or gentile down hill, and it was paved, and we aren’t needing to carry much food or water yet…yes yes I know it will kick by butt…and even after today I’m super tired…but so far so good 🙂
At the moment we’re staying with some truly amazing Warm Showers folks (a web site and world wide community dedicated to hosting people who are cycle touring) and in a truly beautiful and wild part of the Rio Grand valley, a landscape that’s all very new to me. Sandhill Cranes and people burning their yards, I love new things in new places 🙂
All that said, I’m pretty tired…I’m actually surprised I’m writing this 🙂 Got some good pictures and video and audio as well. At least the video probably wont be available till Feb/March, but I’m happy to be taking it and looking forward to sharing it when the time comes.
That’s it for now, will keep posting me as time and wifi allow.
The light of the sun is shinning through the ice on the trees and setting the whole forest alight in a world of glistening silver splendor…the white snow shines clear and bright as it reflects the golden sun back up into the sky…it’s a stunning sight to be hurdling through, gently shacking side to side as the train speeds along.
